Technical details
Agent : dried red fly agaric caps (amanita muscaria), collected in September 2022 (this is important). Reception - 02/20/2021.
Dosage : two doses of 10 g each, three hours apart.
Other surfactants : cigarettes (tobacco), energy drink (caffeine). In the background - venlafaxine (75 mg), on the day of the trip I skipped taking it so as not to overload the autonomic system too much (it likes to go crazy under venlafaxine).
Set & setting : it was scary. Of course, I read a little before, but what I read did not add optimism: they promised externalization, aggression, paranoia, nausea, diarrhea and other joys. In addition, the erowid with its “usual lethal dose is 15 dried caps” also added optimism (I ate 12-15 of them).
It seems like I’ve read guides on resuscitation measures for poisoning with amanitas (spoiler: there is no specific antidote), but one thing is the attitude left over from childhood on the topic “fly agarics are poisonous, you will die if you eat even a piece,” as well as the experience of a suicide attempt by a toadstool in childhood added interest to what was happening.
Before taking the first dose, I went to walk Nyuf and actually said goodbye to him. With difficulty I pulled myself together and began to read the mantra that my good friend, a Buddhist psychiatrist, gave me in order to distract myself.
Physiological side effects : moderate nausea (never to the point of vomiting), increased heart rate, lethargic sleep/trance.
Under fly agarics: what a person experiences under the influence of a poisonous mushroom
Probably, many have read that fly agarics were used by berserkers to induce in themselves what is called “battle madness” - this is unbridled rage, insensitivity to pain, the ability to fight for a long time, even despite serious wounds and loss of blood. These mushrooms were also used by shamans to see spirits and speak with them . Fly agaric mushrooms, infused in a special way with the addition of herbs, caused them to experience vivid hallucinations.
But modern lovers of thrills and the desire to experience something bright and unusual also love fly agaric mushrooms, both for their legality and for the rather unusual hallucinations that they can give.
Many novice trippers are interested in the question: “How do fly agarics grow?” But first you need to learn how to use fly agarics to get any effects.
Usually people take dried mushrooms, namely the caps, since they contain the most alkaloids and hallucinogens. They are chewed and washed down with water or juice. Drinking alcohol is not recommended. A different dose is used per reception: usually twenty grams is considered a large dose to obtain the most powerful sensations.
Everyone's response to fly agaric is different: some did not feel anything and simply fell asleep, while others saw short-term, bright hallucinations, and others woke up in intensive care. This depends on individual sensitivity to the substances found in the mushroom, as well as the amount of fly agaric consumed.
Most often, drowsiness occurs after fly agaric - this is how the same muscimol affects the human body, causing sedation. Many people experience abdominal pain, nausea, and the condition becomes similar to severe alcohol intoxication.
Further, many people note a separation of body and consciousness, some say that they flew around the room or even left the apartment and traveled around the world. There is an increase in sound sensitivity: any sound can cause both pleasant and extremely acute, even painful sensations.
From the outside, such people look ridiculous and strange: they can look for an object under their nose, see mystical animals, talk to dead relatives, walk in circles around the room, cry, laugh, shake in horror, and so on. After the effect of the mushroom substances ends, a real hangover with a headache occurs.
Consequences of using the drug psilocybin
So far, there have been no documented cases of physical dependence in people who regularly use psilocybin. But the impact of psilocybin on the psyche is quite strong, and this can cause psychological dependence as a result of drug abuse.
The initial effects on human perception are set at 3 to 6 mg, which is equal to 0.05 - 0.1 mg/kg for a person weighing 60 kg. The average single dose per dose is approximately 10 mg. At the same time, a dose that can lead to death in an adult has also been established - this is from 6000 to 7000 mg. When psilocybin enters the human body, some of it becomes an active metabolite with less activity.
There have been no reported deaths due to the ingestion of synthetic psilocybin or mushrooms. But there are known cases that led to death when other highly toxic substances were consumed together with mushrooms. Temporary mental disturbances are also possible after prolonged use of large doses of psilocybin mushrooms.
